LG has had quite a run with its Chocolate series and now the Shine. Interestingly, the Shine is in some ways a hybrid between the successful “shiny” phone series and the form factor of the LG Chocolate. Unfortunately, the result is a posh fashion accessory that is none too easy to use.
The LG Shine suffers from two key drawbacks: an extremely sensitive joystick and a crunched keypad that insists on mistakes. The joystick is a spun metal nub which is used in lieu of a more traditional navigation array, and while its minimalist look adds to the beauty of the device, it’s a chore to use with any accuracy.
While not a good choice for a heavy texter, the Shine is most definitely a showpiece and clearly one of the best looking sliders on the market.
When closed, the Shine’s exterior is one large mirrored finish. When you touch any button, a handsome 2.25 inch display appears, capable of producing 262K colors. The screen also uses Multi-Angle Vision Technology, which allows you to view the screen from almost any angle. The Font style is adjustable, as is the brightness and backlight timer. You can select either an icon or list style menu. You can also customize the Shine will a selection of ringtones and wallpapers.
The Shine supports Yahoo, AOL and MSM for instant messaging, and comes with a mid-range feature set that includes voice commands, wireless web browser and email.
If you put a premium on the look of your phone, the Shine will definitely stand out as a class act. However, as an intuitive convergence device the Shine falls short.

The 2-megapixel camera snapped surprisingly clear pics, thanks to high-quality optics — you can even use the mirrored disp...
- Michael Oryl, MobileBurnI find the K770 to be well designed and built. The few niggles in the design are small enough so as to probably not bother too many people.
