As sophisticated and complicated as most mobile phones are nowadays, some people still prefer using the simplest of handsets. They just want to carry something that will let them type out text messages, make or receive calls from time to time and maybe send the odd email. One phone that fits the bill is the QWERTY-equipped ZTE F451 available in Canada with Public Mobile. It won’t be able to match the likes of the iPhone or Lumia 920 in terms of hardware and software features, but in terms of letting users communicate on the go, it will easily get things done.
When it first launched through Public Mobile, the F451 from ZTE was a bit too pricey. But now, it is available at discount prices that make it one of the most affordable QWERTY handsets ever. Its features aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but still mildly interesting. It has a 2.4-inch color screen, a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth wireless, and support for up to 32GB microSD cards. Its standard battery offers up to 220 hours of standby time and up to 4 hours of talk time. Once again, that’s nothing to write home about, but for something so simple and probably won’t be used at all times of day like most modern smartphones, it may be more than enough.
The F451 supports standard CDMA networks and 3G wireless data, which makes it capable of loading Web pages easily on its built-in Opera Mini Web browser. So it’s more than just a mobile phone, it’s also a mobile Internet device.
