How to cancel my Telus contract?

Help!! Does anyone know what is involved with canceling service with telus?? Prices? the Fine print??




I've been on telus for the past 5 years and even made the mistake of renewing my contract in 2008 when I wanted the LG Chocolate Flip. Worst step ever. I am currently paying $200 bucks out of nowhere (my dad & me combined..which is normally supposed to average around $80 per month). I canceled my texting & internet which didn't change a thing. I called Telus only to hear the rep cut me off by saying that the charges are for airtime. I reconfirmed my average calling per day and it amounts to a max of 6-8 calls a week. Upon further verification, it seemed like Telus upped the charges because of subtle & sneaky plan upgrades over the years. So screw them and get out of the contract. That's what I'll be doing in the next few days. I'm going with prepaid. Done deal.


Telus has screwed me over too. I have been a loyal customer for 8 years, paid my bills on time, never missed a payment. They sell me the faulty Nokia crap phone, lock me in for another 3 years, and now that my phone doesn't work, the useless customer sales rep says "its not our fault, it's Nokia". I told them they should accept some responsibility for offering a faulty phone (She even admitted they have had other complaints about this Nokia phone) but she said she can't help me. I'm stuck with paying for a new phone or paying for the repair -- even though the Telus rep on the phone, the rep at the Telus store, and numerous other blogs show the same problem with this Nokia 6265i phone. The rep on the phone was unsympathetic, and rather confrontational when trying to defend Telus. I vow not to renew with Telus after that treatment! Telus Mobility truly sucks!


my friend had 2 telus phones on a very expensive rate plan and i cant remember the exact circumstance but telus screwed him around and he took the phones back to a telus kiosk in a mall and threw them at the employee and told them that their phones and service were crap and that he was cancelling everything. as cell phone carriers do not have accounts with the credit buro(half the country would have bad credit after missing 1 payment) , there should be no problem just not paying your bill(as long as you dont want to use telus for your landline or internet connection). check with the credit buro and see if telus is registered with them. if you have bad credit already, no problem. collection agencies must only call you during business hours and cannot make harassing calls.


I have a telus phone and it is not working at all i want to get out of my 3 yr contract it has been crap for me since day 1 ,Telus claims it has water damage and stuff and they want me to pay for a new phone..the contract is under my GF name ,we would like to cancel the contract and get away with paying nothing since we are not happy one bit with Telus, what will happen to us? we've heard all will happen is that we would have bad credit for 7 yrs is that correct or is there more to it?

is your contract expired? if so..there shouldn't be any problems. you will be free to go providing you pay up your last bill.

if you are still in a contract with them, it gets a bit messier. the fine print suggests you'll be hit with a cancellation fee (probably about $150).
