Does anyone have information on new carriers coming to the GTA market?

About 6 months ago, I heard a news report that the CRTC was opening up frequencies to other cell phone companies sometime in the Spring of 2008 (ie Sprint, Verizon, etc). I figured if this happened, it would drive down the price of rate packages. My plan with Bell was up in the new year so I've been holding out. The only new company that I've seen in the GTA is Koodoo. Does anyone have any information on the accuracy of this report? Further, has anyone heard of other new companies coming to the GTA market? Input and feedback appreciated!

yay!! new competition!! hopefully it's real competition and not subsidiaries of national brands...

anyone interested in Canada/US or 18 other countries would like to make $$$$$$$ on their own phone bills. Check my website www.acquirefreedom.acnrep.com and leave me a message. I will be in contact with you

im in telecommunications industry.YES there 3 NEW carriers for cell phones entering the market. They will blow you mind out

there is suppose to be actual new companies (THANK GOD)

but again, i still think we're going to get screwed over
kudo plans are amazing, but fones are crap. if they had gsm
    i'd sign up, quick times.

but cbc was saying, new companies should be introduced in the next 6 months

    so we'll wait and see
    hopefully something decent will come

cause rogers is just burning my wallet

If I remember correctly there was supposed to be an auction for the new "airwaves" with provisions to help prevent the big 3 from dominating at the end of May-ish. If my memory is correct than it would probly still take some time for the new companies to get going...but then again I could be wrong...

Koodoo is a Telus so it is not really a new company. It would be great if they have more companies coming into Canada.
