Question for Bell reps

Is it at all possible to activate a solo mobile vi2300 on my account? Would it be as simple as an esn change?

I can confirm you cannot transfer a Solo ESN onto a Bell account and vice versa.

I'm not going to comment on the reasons why this is, but bear in mind that Solo's phones were heavily subsidized when they appeared on the market.

Sorry :-(

well I made the mistake of doing this and now i'm stuck with a sanyo 2300 brand new from solo that cannot be activated with my current bell contract (7 months left to expiration THANK GOD). The only reason I purchased the phone was because I called 3 reps and they all said you could but you cant.
Anyways my current cell phone that came with the plan does not work so I pay 25 every month for nothing!! useless or what?

No, we can't do that unfortunately. I'm not sure what the technical response is, but I would assume that it is a software issue.

Bloodclot,

yeh. i'm not surprised you can't get a straight answer on this. That's the way the big cog turns.

instead of calling customer service i would go to an independent dealer and ask them if they'll do it for you.

goodl luck

No, but i was gunna buy two of them off of a friend if i was able to do so. I called customer service asking this question and the guy said he probably could, but he told me to call in with the esn just to check. That said, everyone I've talked to gives me a different answer.

Bloodclot,

Bell tells me no. The software install on the Sanyo 2300 for Solo is different (menu systems etc.) from the 2300 Bell is selling. Do you already have the 2300 from solo?
