Does Telus give phone discounts to loyal subscribers?

Hi! I have a question. I'm with Telus and to be honest they've been good to me for the 2 years that I've been with them. I think it's cause they got a lot of flack for their lack of customer service. Anyways I have about 22 mos left in my 3yr contract and I wanted to upgrade my blackberry pearl to a Curve. It's not even the latest one as Rogers has the latest one but I refuse to go to Rogers but anyways, I have a credit of $150 that I can use to upgrade but they're charging me the retail price minus the $150 credit so it will cost me $400 to upgrade to a new 3yr contract. WTF?!? Anyone know why they'd do that that a customer that's already with them plus it's not even the latest Curve!!

good news that telus has offered you a handsome renewal offer trina. here is a look at the two phones you are considering side-by-side: https://www.cellphones.ca/cell-phones/compare/756,1206/

Ok so I called back and asked to speak to the retention and loyalty dept. I asked why it would cost me $400 to extend my contract another 3 years? I said I understand that new clients will get the better deals but existing clients need to be shown some appreciation too. So the chick gave me a $300 credit towards the Blackberry Curve. If I get the Curve, it will cost me about $150 and if I get the Tour, it will be $335. I'm still debating which phone to get.

As for why they do it I am not overly sure but can look into it and get back to but when it comes to upgrading as your mentioning, all cell providers are like that in Canada I'm afraid.
