Is Bell’s Unlimited Mobile Browsing really free?

Hi all,

I have free unlimited mobile browsing on my current. I got my first bill today and they charged me 120 bucks for browsing. I talked to two Bell CSR's and they said that it is free unless I download screensavers, ringtones and pictures. I just check the news and weather and my hotmail account. What gives? Isn't it free if I only browse websites???

Related to this, on most plans the inclusive Mobile Browser is now capped at 100k and is known as "Mobile Browser Lite". Unlimited is then either a $5 option or comes included in a FuelME bundle.

Good to see your situation resolved, but people should bear this in mind for the future. With any feature-rich phone it's best to get one of the FuelME bundles, epecially for TV and/or camera phones, otherwise there could be a lot of tears come billing time...

lol, yeah i thought that was fishy when they told me.....but you MUST use the mobile browser on it. No other app is free....so do not setup versamail or any other app that does not operate on port 80.

I was able to argue with the Bell CSR and got my data charges waived. Lucky me. By then I had to argue to get my activation charge waived (part of the promotion they had in Dec.) plus my $40 BCAA credit. What a hassle!!!

Unlimited mobile browser is the internet feature on your phone. If you are using the regular browser on the Treo, you are actually using a seperate data plan on pay-per-use. Unfortunately, the reps should have been clearer that on the Treos/Pocket PCs, you need a seperate data plan to surf the web. Hope that helps.
