$499 Galaxy Note 10.1 Already in Stores, Takes on iPad 3
Tech Radar

Samsung's flagship tablet, the Galaxy Note 10.1, is already available at Best Buy, Office Depot, Amazon and other retailers at $499 for the 16 GB Wi-Fi only model and $549 for the 32 GB model. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has a built-in stylus, and a bunch of creativity and multi-tasking apps that run with the stylus called the S Pen.

Key features include a 10.1-inch display with 1,280 by 800 pixel resolution, an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, a quad-core Exynos 1.5 GHz processor with 2GB of RAM onboard, a five-megapixel camera at the back and a 1.9-megapixel front shooter, and a 7000-mAh battery.

What Else You Need To Know:

- The Galaxy Note 10.1 has a multi-screen feature that allows you to work in two different apps simultaneously, but the function for the moment only works with six apps: web browser, video player, photo gallery, S Note, Polaris Office and e-mail.

- The Galaxy Note 10.1 is launching at the same price as the entry-level third generation iPad.

- Only Wi-Fi models were made available starting Aug. 16. 4G LTE models are coming later this year.
