The LTE-ready Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablet -- which 18 days ago saw a $100 reduction off its $499 price tag at launch -- will be available on AT&T starting April 5 for $399 outright or for $150 less on a limited basis. As with other network-subsidized devices, purchasers who opt for the $249 pricing at AT&T will be subject to a two-year contract with an LTE line. The device being offered by AT&T features 32GB of storage, 4G LTE connectivity, and access to Amazon's huge portfolio of digital content.

- First released in September, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet sports a 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4470 dual-core processor, with an 8.9-inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 1920 x 1200 and 254ppi, 1GB of RAM, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, battery life of around 10 hours and Dolby Digital Plus sound enhancement.
- The Amazon Appstore claims to have 23 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazines, books, and audiobooks.
