Amazon Kindle Phone to Sport 4.7-Inch Screen
iPhone In Canada Blog

Amazon is on track to release the Kindle Phone in the second half of 2013, and the first version would have a 4.7-inch display, according to the latest reports.

The online retailer was originally working on a handset with a 4.3-inch display, aiming for a second quarter release.

In what could indicate as a revised timetable, Digitimes reports that Amazon at the last minute has scrapped plans for a 4.3-inch display in response to the growing demand for larger devices among consumers.

Amazon is also working on improving the specs of the upcoming smartphone.

What Else You Need To Know

  • The Kindle Phone is expected to cost between $100 and $249.
  • Like the popular Kindle Fire tablets, the Kindle smartphone is expected to run a heavily customized version of Android.
  • Amazon's manufacturing partner is Foxconn, which also makes Kindle tablets, iPads and iPhones, among others.
