Amazon is releasing a larger version of its 7-inch Kindle Fire and an eReader with a 'Paperwhite' backlit display, a brief ad in Wednesday's Giants and Cowboys game confirmed. The TV ad was aired on the eve of the September 6th media event in New York, where the retail giant is expected to unveil its second generation Kindle Fire and other new devices. Other than showing off teasers of the new Kindles, Amazon has not released information on the specs, pricing and availability.
What Else You Need To Know
- Aside from having a 10-inch version, the Kindle Fire 2 is expected to have a front camera for Skype calls, a higher-resolution screen, quicker processor, a new user interface, and an HDMI port.
- Amazon has stopped selling current models of the Kindle Fire saying that they're "sold out" and have taken 22% of the U.S. tablet market.
