Mirrorless Android Camera From Polaroid to Show Up at CES 2013

Polaroid will be unveiling an Android powered, interchangeable lens camera at CES 2013, its chief executive confirmed. Rumored features of the camera, dubbed the IM1836, include an 18.1 megapixel sensor, a 3.5-inch display, a microSD card slot for storage, HDMI, Wi-Fi, and an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Polaroid CEO Scott Hardy did not confirm the specs, saying that further information will only be released at the trade show.

What Else You Need To Know

  • The IM1836 is also expected to have a pop-up flash, a mirrorless sensor, a headphone out jack, a blink detection feature, and the ability to capture panorama images.
  • Samsung and Nikon already have Android cameras but the IM1836 would be the first to have an interchangeable lens.
  • The 2013 International CES is slated for January 8th to 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Samsung has recently released the Galaxy Camera and Nikon has Coolpix S800, and well, assuming this latest rumors proves to be accurate, it looks like Polaroid will soon be getting into the Android based point-and-shoot camera game.
