According to a newly published report from security firm Kaspersky Labs, the most widely used version of the Android operating system is also the one that is the most targeted with malware, accounting for 28% of all blocked malware attempts recorded in Q3 2012. Meanwhile, Ice Cream Sandwich came in second in terms of blocked attemps, accounting for 22% of the total recorded number in the same quarter. The same report reveals that the latest version of Android is by far the safest one in the wild, though you can never have too much protection so it's still best to be mindful of the stuff that gets sent and received on your own handsets.
What Else You Need To Know
- Most of the recorded malware attacks were reportedly done through Java exploits and SMS.
