Apple has started a countdown to the next big App Store milestone.
A special section in iTunes confirms that Apple is giving out a $10,000 gift card to the customer who downloads the 50 billionth app and $500 gift cards to the next 50 people. The main store page displays a rolling counter of the apps downloaded, which is currently at about 49.2 billion. The site is also displaying a list of all-time free and paid apps, with the paid apps list topped by Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja and the free apps topped by Facebook and Pandora.
