Apple has just announced that it managed to sell 5 million units of the iPhone 5 on its opening weekend, making it the fastest-selling iPhone launched to date. iPhone 5 sales have so far managed to surpass those of earlier versions of the smartphone from Apple, and is on track to sell even more as the holiday season rolls around. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, Apple is currently "working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone."

- Over the iPhone 5's opening weekend, Apple also managed to activate about 100 million iOS devices to the latest version of the software, iOS 6. These devices include the 6th-generation iPod touch, iPad 2, and the new iPad.
