Archos Launches Thin Dual-Core G10 XS Tablets With Coverboard
Engadget

Archos will release its 10.1-inch Android tablet called the 101 XS tablet starting September and will unveil 9.7 and 8-inch models by the end of the year. The French company's first tablet for its Gen10 lineup has 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 pixel resolution display, a Texas Instruments OMAP 4470 dual-core processor, supported by 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS (Jelly Bean update arrives in the fourth quarter). The device will be available at a budget-friendly £299 ($399) in the UK in September and North America in November (online and in stores).

What Else You Need To Know:

- The Archos tablet is only 8 mm thick (beating the iPad by 1.4mm) and has connectivity features not found in the iPad: a microSD card slot (up to 64GB), mini HDMI and USB.

- Challenging the Asus Transformer Prime or Eee Pad Transformer, the Archos slates each ship with a magnetic Coverboard, a protective screen cover that doubles as a full-sized QWERTY keyboard, and as a charging dock.

Philippe Geldard, web content manager at Archos, pointed out that the there are "no dodgy skins to slow it down or make it look staggeringly ugly", which we're sure will be a welcome relief. Few tablets do get skinned, the big exception being Samsung.
