Samsung unveiled at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin its ATIV Smart PC line of notebooks that convert to tablets when their keyboard docks are detached. The ATIV Smart PC has an 11.6-inch FULL HD LCD touch display, a full-blown Windows 8 operating system, an S Pen stylus, 3G/4G connectivity, and micro-HDMI and USB support. The Smart PC Pro model has a faster processor and better resolution but a shorter battery life than the regular Smart PC version. The hybrid tablets will be available in the U.S. on October 26th.
What Else You Need To Know
- To be launched starting at $649 ($749 with the keyboard), the Smart PC carries an a Clover Trail-based Intel Atom processor, a 1,366 x 768 resolution display, 13.5-hour battery life, 2GB of RAM, up to a 128GB flash drive, a rear 8-megapixel camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, and thickness of 9.9mm.
- Priced starting at $1,119 (128GB SSD of storage built-in), the Smart PC Pro has a more powerful Core i5 processor, a 1080p display, eight hours of battery life, 4GB of RAM, a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, and marginally thicker at 11.9mm.
- Samsung is also releasing 4.8-inch ATIV S smartphones and the Windows RT-based ATIV Tab tablets.
