Although already available in Canada, U.S. carriers won't start selling the BlackBerry Z10 until mid-March. However, contract-free mobile carrier Solavei through a deal with retail partner GSM Nation has started selling the first handset running the newest BlackBerry 10 operating system for $999 outright. The $999 price tag means that the unsubsidized and unlocked version of the flagship device is more expensive than the latest-generation iPhone 5, which is sold for $649 without the usual two-year contract. Available for orders today, the device will be delivered starting February 13th.

- Solavei, which uses T-Mobile's cellular towers, is offering unlimited voice, messaging, and data for $49 per month.
- The full-touch BlackBerry Z10 features a 4.2-inch HD display with a 1280 x 768 resolution, a rear 8-MP shooter with an LED flash and support for 1080P HD video, a 2-MP web cam on the front, microSD card slot, and 4G LTE connectivity.
