The BlackBerry Z10 is off to a record start. The first handset running the newest BB10 operating system was sold out in many stores in Canada and UK amid high demand, said BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins who did not provide specific figures. Reports have been quick to point out that BlackBerry is seeing the glass half-full, noting that retailers had low inventory in the first place, with stores in Canada allocated just 5 to 10 units each for store walk-ins and just 15 units for some UK stores. UK retailer Phones 4u, however, confirmed that 55 per cent of its 680 stores sold out of both black and white versions of the Z10. Canadian carrier also confirmed that the Z10 was the most successful BlackBerry launch ever.

- BlackBerry's CEO said Z10 had the "best day ever first day of a launch of a new BlackBerry smartphone" while in the UK it's "close to three times our best performance ever for the first week of sales for a BlackBerry smartphone."
- The BlackBerry Z10 features a 4.2-inch HD display with a 1280 x 768 resolution, a rear 8-MP shooter with an LED flash and support for 1080P HD video, a 2-MP web cam on the front, microSD card slot, and 4G LTE connectivity.
- Released February 5th in Canada and January 31st in the UK, the Z10 won't be available in the U.S. until March.
