Canadian mobile users affected by iOS 6 cellular data bug

A bug in Apple's iOS 6 software that causes iPhones to consume mobile data even when a Wi-Fi connection is in use--first discovered in the US--has been found to be affecting Canadian mobile users under Bell, Rogers, and Telus as well. According to one report on the iPhone in Canada Blog, the main cause of the problem appears to be iTunes match, a feature in iOS 6 that uses cellular data even when the setting is off. Quite a number of users have also posted about their concerns on Twitter, and it seems that the problem is affecting more devices than just the Apple iPhone 5.

What Else You Need To Know

  • Rogers has commented on the issue to say that their version of the OS is not affected by the same iOS 6 bug that first appeared in the US. However, Rogers customers who do experience such problems are advised to reach out to them for further assistance.
