Firefox for Android updated to work on older ARMv6 devices
Fone Arena

Mozilla has just rolled out a new version of Firefox for Android in order to add support for ARMv6-based devices with 800MHz processors and at least 512MB of RAM. The updated software should now work on over half a million new phones and tablets from the likes of Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG, and white box device makers hailing from China and other parts of the world. The new software also adds hardware and software decoder support for h.264 video on Android 4.0 and 4.1. And as a bonus--for Jelly Bean users--it now offers Explore by Touch, a feature that lets the visually impaired browse the Web through speech, sounds, and vibrations.

What Else You Need To Know

  • Firefox for Android is now on version 17.0 and can be downloaded directly from Google Play.
  • The new version of Firefox for Android brings a Stability fix for Android 4.2.
