Google launches Android 4.2, retains Jelly Bean moniker

Google's Nexus 4 smartphone launch also sees the official unveiling of the latest flavor of the Android operating system, which is now on version number 4.2 with the same codename as the version that came before it, which is Jelly Bean. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean brings about several new features such as enhanced notifications, gesture typing, multiple user accounts, and wireless display support. There's also a new feature called Photo Sphere, which will let users take panoramic photos to create spheres made up of interconnected snapshots.

What Else You Need To Know

  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean will debut with the Nexus 4 smartphone from LG and Nexus 10 tablet from Samsung.
  • Google has made no mention of when--or even if--any other devices will be getting upgrades to Android 4.2.
