Google launched the Android mobile operating system at the Open Handset Alliance on November 5th, 2007. Fast forward five years, and it is now the world's most popular mobile OS, powering many different kinds of consumer electronics and other gadgets, beating the likes of Apple, Microsoft, and Nokia at their own game. Currently, Android is on version 4.2 Jelly Bean, the default operating system on the LG Nexus 4 smartphone and Samsung Nexus 10 tablet.
