Android Central

Google is reportedly holding a press event, titled "The playground is open", October 29th possibly to unveil the high-end Nexus 10. The successor to the popular Nexus 7 would be produced by Samsung, features the yet to be released Android 4.2 operating system, and a 10.1-inch screen with a high resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Confirming the Nexus 10 rumors are the product code-named "Manta" seen in Google Analytics data and user agent profiles and an image of a "Nexus 10" device posted in Picasa.

What Else You Need To Know

  • The Google Nexus 10 is touted to have a super high-resolution display that tops Apple's third-generation iPad. The Nexus 10's 2,560 x 1,600 resolution display gives the device 299 pixels per inch, compared with the highly touted 2,048 x 1,536, 264 PPI on the 9.7-inch Retina iPad.
  • The Google Nexus 7, priced at $199 and co-developed by Asus, was released in July. The device, which has been praised for its amazing display, features a pixel density of 216 ppi.

If the Nexus 10 ships with a 10.1-inch panel (like the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and Galaxy Note 10.1 do) that would give it 299 PPI. If it's a 9.7-inch panel (like the iPad 3) it goes up to a whopping 311 PPI. - Jason D. O'Grady, ZDNet
So far, most 10-inch Android tablets have come in around the $500 price point of the iPad, but that strategy hasn’t led to any significant sales traction. Google needs to take a lower-priced route here and hopefully pull the market down in price a bit too. - Nathan Olivarez-Giles, Wired
