Google will launch a new version of the Nexus 7 in June. Reuters, citing unnamed sources, said the second-generation Nexus 7 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and will still be manufactured by ASUS. The ASUS-made Nexus 7 currently in shelves featured an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and has been lauded for its fantastic-build quality and high performance. Google expects even more immense demand for the 7-inch tablet as it expects to ship as many as eight million units of the second-generation Nexus 7 in the second half of 2013 (twice the second-half 2012 figures). Pricing is yet to be determined: Google may choose to sell the new gadget for $149 or $199 and discontinue the old model.

- Reuters' sources said Google weighed on NVIDIA's and Qualcomm's processors but decided on the latter for "power reasons."
- The new N7 will also sport a display with a higher resolution and a casing with a much smaller bezel than the current model.
- One of the best selling Android tablets in 2012, the Nexus 7 retails for $199 (16GB) and $249 (32GB).
