In what could potentially add fuel to the hype on HTC's newest flagship device or add to HTC's woes, HTC will only start fulfilling preorders for the HTC One by the end of the month, with a rollout to more markets in April, missing its target of a March 15 global launch. The highly touted 4-MP ultrapixel camera, which uses oversized sensor pixels to gather more light, is being blamed for the delays as the yields for the new technology were low. With its innovative camera, new interface and leading edge internals, the HTC One has been touted as a worthy challenger to the flagship phones from Apple and Samsung. But the release delays mean that the HTC One would have a smaller head start over the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4, which is slated to be unveiled at a Samsung event March 14 in New York.

- A KGI analyst says that HTC may only be able to ship one-fifth of the phones it intends to, or between 800,000 and 1.2-million.
- HTC's new flagship phone sports a high-resolution 4.7-inch display, a powerful Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7GHz, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean customized with the new and simplified Sense 5 interface, a built-in remote control, and an all-aluminum design.
