The HTC One has been officially introduced, touting an "ultrapixel" camera, a built-in remote control, an all-aluminum design, and a new interface to challenge the flagship phones from Samsung and Apple. The innovative ultrapixel camera uses oversized sensor pixels for better quality, and is able to capture a photo-video hybrid "Zoe", which can shoot up 20 photos and a 3-second video when pressing the shutter button. The Android 4.1-running HTC One has the new and simplified Sense 5 interface, featuring a new Flipboard-like home screen called "BlinkFeed". HTC's new flagship phone sports a gorgeous, high-resolution 4.7-inch display and leading-edge internals, including a powerful Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7GHz. The phone will be available in 80 countries beginning mid-March.
What Else You Need To Know
- The HTC One also features a 5-inch, 1920 x 1080 (468 pixels per inch) display, 2 GB of RAM, up to 64 GB of embedded memory, NFC, a 2300 mAh battery, infrared remote features, and front-facing stereo speakers.
- Although it just has 4-megapixels, the so-called "ultrapixel" camera trades pixel count for pixel size: each pixel is meant to gather 300 percent more light than the current sensors and is capable to shoot 1080p videos at 60 frames per second.
- Audio features also include "BoomSound" dual front stereo speakers amplified with Beats Audio, and an extra “HDR” microphone for clearly capturing sound in loud environments.
- U.S. carriers AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have confirmed that they will release the device but have not announced pricing.
