A Huawei Senior VP named Yu Chengdong recently posted on social networking site Weibo to all but confirm the existence of a "giant" Android smartphone called the Huawei Ascend Mate which is expected to launch some time early next year--possibly during CES 2013. According to the rumor mill, Ascend Mate is set to become Huawei's biggest smartphone ever, and the Huawei exect above alludes to it by describing a "giant" handset that will put the Samsung Galaxy Note II to shame. That particular Samsung device is derided as unimpressive and overpriced.

If the Huawei giant smartphone can actually match or exceed the specs of the Note 2 while offering a bigger screen and possibly their own stylus, Samsung might actually have some real competition at hand. This device certainly seems to be more of a threat than the LG Intuition has been thus far.- Andrew Grush, Mobile Magazine
