Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu confirmed to Engadget that the Chinese company will unveil at the MWC in February a new Ascend "P" series phone, which will be the world's thinnest. Yu stated that the new handset will have a beautiful metallic body and will be slimmer than the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra, which recently claimed the title with its 6.45-mm body. The Huawei exec also confirmed they will bring their own eight-core processor.

- Huawei's new chips will rival Samsung, which announced at the CES expo the Exynos 5 Octa, an eight-core chip said to be 70% more efficient than quad-core CPUs, and rumored to power the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4.
- The GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC), which is touted as the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry, is slated for February 25th to 28th in Barcelona, Spain.

Huawei Goes Official with the Ascend D2 5-inch Android Smartphone
As mentioned, it has a 5-inch display, a 1080p LCD panel to be exact.
