Intel and Microsoft, two tech players that dominated PCs in the past decade, are renewing their bid to stay relevant in a "post-PC era" with the Windows 8 software and Intel-powered tablets and other devices already slated for an October 25th launch. Before that, Intel is hosting a media event in San Francisco on September 27th to talk about its next generation Atom processor also known as Clover Trail. Device-makers ASUS, Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung and ZTE are participating in next week's event.

What Else You Need To Know

  • The lucrative mobile devices market is currently being dominated by Apple (iPhone and iPad) and Google (Android software for smartphones and tablets).
  • Device-makers other than ZTE unveiled Windows 8 tablets, convertibles or ultrabooks at the IFA 2012 expo in Berlin held in the first week of September.

What’s really interesting is that officially ZTE was not known as a Windows 8 partner with real products announced, unlike ASUS and Samsung for example, who already showed a bunch of devices.
