iPad mini and iPhone 5: Sept. 12 Unveiling Set?
Other

Apple is reportedly unveiling the iPad mini, as well as the mythical iPhone 5, on September 12th. Retailers have been asked to clear shelf space for the iPad mini by the 12th, according to alleged sources. The 7.85-inch version of the 9.7-inch iPad is expected to launch at $299, 40% cheaper than the entry level iPad.

What Else You Need To Know:

- A $399 iPad mini would be more expensive than Google and Amazon's $199 7-inch tablet PCs, but the iPad mini reportedly will have a thinner screen frame to allow for a larger display than the Nexus 7 or the Kindle Fire.

- Reports have been inconsistent. While current reports point to a September unveiling and release of the iPad mini, DigiTimes recently pointed to an October release date.
