About 45 percent of iPad owners have updated to iOS 6 just 11 days after Apple's newest operating system was released, according to Chitika Insights. Apple has earlier confirmed that more than 100 million iOS devices (iPad, iPhone and iPod) have received iOS 6 over-the-air or through iTunes in less than one week. iOS 6 is touted to be the most advanced operating system yet and boasts of 200 new features but so far has been plagued with issues, including Wi-Fi connectivity problems and a mapping software that has out-of-date business listings, mislabeled locations, and grainy images.
What Else You Need To Know
- At the iPhone 5 event in September, Apple announced that it has sold 400 million iOS devices, including 84 million iPads, through June.
- iOS 6 does not support the original iPad. Siri and FaceTime over cellular both work on the third-generation iPad, but not the iPad 2. The panoramic photos feature in iOS 6 doesn't work on any iPad.
- For comparison purposes, just 22% of Android users have updated to Ice Cream Sandwich (released in October last year) and Jelly Bean (released in July this year). Jelly Bean is only available on a limited number of devices (that includes the Nexus 7) and comprises just 1.8% of Android devices.

If I had to make a guess, I'd say it's all the negative talk of the new Maps app, and because such a large percentage of users are using their phones for navigation, any trouble with Maps can have an effect on user satisfaction.
