The leaked device that became known last week as the HTC Proto could be officially announced at IFA 2012 this week, according to new reports. The smartphone in question is supposedly set to arrive as the HTC Desire X, a new mid-range model that's going to be positioned between the HTC One S and the HTC One V. Rumored specs include a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel camera, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

What Else You Need To Know:

- If the new reports are correct, the Desire X will be the first smartphone since the Desire HD to carry the Desire branding from HTC.
