MEEP! Tablet Tries to Draw Parents and Kids

Oregon Scientific unveiled its child-friendly MEEP! tablet. The tablet has an interface that's easy for kids to navigate, has a silicon bumper that allows the device to survive drops, and allos parents control content that their kids can access. The slate has great, child-friendly content, including Angry Birds, UNO, Toon Goggles, art and learning apps. The device is already available for $149 at Amazon, Target, Best Buy, and other major retailers.

What Else You Need To Know

  • The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-running tablet has access to Google Play as well as a special store where kids can download apps for free and with MEEP! coins.
  • Specs are low-end: 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 7-inch 800 x 480 display, 4 GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera, and HDMI-out.
