GSM Dome

A TV-equipped variant of the Samsung Droid Charge is headed straight for MetroPCS this Friday in the form of the Samsung Lightray 4G. It is fitted with a TV antenna that will let users enjoy watching TV wirelessly with what is being called Dyle Mobile TV. Watching TV programs from the likes of ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and more is made possible via an Android app and no data charges will apply for the time being. Speaking of data, the Samsung Lightray 4G, as its name suggests, supports 4G LTE. Its other features include a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, 8-megapixel camera, HDMI-out, 8GB of internal storage, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. MetroPCS intends to sell it for $459.99.

What Else You Need To Know:

- The Samsung Lightray 4G for MetroPCS is tagged as an "intentionally low volume device"--only 2,200 total units will be available in each market

- Select markets where Dyle TV coverage is not available will be excluded in terms of launch and availability.

- The MetroPCS Mobile Hotspot service that will be launched alongside the Samsung Lightray 4G will cost an extra $10 per month.
