BGR

The Microsoft Office suite for the iPhone and iPad, as well as Android devices, won't be available until late 2014. Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet says a leak of the Office product roadmap, called Gemini, details different waves in which Office products will be launched: (a) Office programs for Windows 8 and RT tablets revamped with more touch-friendly controls by October 2013, (b) a version or Mac in April 2014, and (c) Office for iOS/Android in October 2014. Microsoft has long been rumored to coming to Microsoft's rival platforms iOS and Android, but so far it hasn't happened.

What Else You Need To Know

  • Microsoft Office -- which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote -- is the top office suite for PCs.
  • Windows 8-tablets come with Microsoft Office but these devices have failed to gain any substantive market-share.
