Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 operating system is now official, and with its launch comes the introduction of several new features that aim to improve the overall user experience on handsets from the likes of Nokia, Samsung, and HTC. Windows Phone 8 features a new lock screen with Live Apps, a new app called Data Sense, and a few new features which include Kids Corner and Room in People Hub. There will also be a select number of free apps and services courtesy of Gameloft, Urbanspoon, and Pandora radio.

- Windows Phone 8 will debut on devices that include the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X.
- To coincide with the official launch of Windows Phone 8, Microsoft also announced a new Windows Phone 8 syncing app for Windows 8 and Windows RT
