Motorola X Phone No Longer Myth, Confirmed by Job Posting
Other

The mythical Motorola X Phone, rumored to be the first Android device jointly developed by Google and its new unit Motorola, has been confirmed. Motorola posted a job listing on LinkedIn for a senior director of product management to work directly on the X Phone project. While the posting confirms that the X Phone is on the way, it dues suggest that development is still in the early stages. Motorola, acquired by Google for $12.5 billion in May 2012, has been rumored to be working on a phone that would have a 5-inch edge-to-edge display, $299 unsubsidized price tag, the upcoming Google Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie operating system, and a launch date at Google's I/O event in May.

What Else You Need To Know

  • While Google has been partnering with Android device-makers like LG, ASUS and Samsung to release Nexus smartphones and tablets, the Motorola X won't reportedly have a Nexus branding.
