Just days away before HTC's media event February 19th in New York City, evleaks claims that that the rumored M7 super-phone will be released with a simplified, albeit less sexier, name: the HTC One. Meanwhile a photo taken with an HTC One popped up on Flickr, which also backs reports that the upcoming flagship device would have industry-first ultrapixel camera, which uses three 4.3-megapixel sensor layers to generate crisper images. More proof of an M7/One coming up is a press render obtained by evleaks that shows just two capacitive keys for Home and Back (minus the Recent Apps button) and the new Sense 5 UI overlay.
What Else You Need To Know
- Aside from the Ultrapixel camera and the Sense 5 skin, the M7 is rumored sport a 1080p, full HD 4.7-inch display, 1.7GHz quad-core processor, a metallic unibody design, Android Jelly Bean operating system, and an IR port that allows the phone to be used as a universal remote control.

Either way, the hardware looks solid; it’s somewhat of a departure for HTC, with what look like chamfered edges that might awaken feelings of familiarity in iPhone 5 owners, and top and bottom panels that look somewhat similar to those on BlackBerry’s new Z10 smartphone.- Darrell Etherington, Mobile Crunch

HTC M7 vs HTC One in name change plan
HTC already have the HTC One series that includes the low-end phone called the HTC One V, other names include the likes of One S the One X, XL, and the HTC One X+, so to simply have the HTC M7 as the HTC One does not sound so nice and even less sexier than the other variants such as the V, S, X, XL and X+, all they will be doing in knocking off the letters at the end and giving us a name that sounds lower-end that the V model, we might be wrong in our thinking and that is why we are calling out to our readers.

Rumour: HTC M7 coming to market as the HTC One
HTC unveiled the One X, One S and One V during Mobile World Congress last year, and was the first manufacturer to bring an Ice Cream Sandwich device to market in a non-Nexus product. The One X still holds up well today, with a gorgeous 720p screen and a lightweight Sense 4.0+ skin atop Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
