Nexus 4's secretly inactive 4G LTE chip uncovered
TechRadar

A recently published teardown of the LG Nexus 4 on iFixit reveals that Google's latest flagship Android smartphone has an inactive 4G LTE radio hidden inside its casing among other internal components. This means that the Nexus 4 could, at some point in the future, be released with a working 4G LTE radio. There is even speculation that the inactive chip found in the current model can be activated in order to turn the LTE feature on. But it's nothing more than a mere dream for now.

What Else You Need To Know

  • The LG Nexus 4 is Google's latest Android flagship smartphone and comes with version 4.2 Jelly Bean as the default operating system.
  • LG's own Optimus G smartphone, which has a working 4G LTE chip in it, was used as the basis for the Nexus 4.
