Nokia's first Windows Phone 8 offerings have been officially unveiled at its highly anticipated September 5 Lumia launch event in New York. First up is the Nokia Lumia 920, which features a 4.5-inch 720p HD curved glass screen with Super Sensitive touch technology, 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU, 1GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and 8MP PureView camera with Carl Zeiss optics. It will also come with integrated wireless charging tech that will make it work with various wireless charging accessories. Meanwhile, there's also the Nokia Lumia 820, which comes with a slightly smaller 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen display with the same touchscreen technology and similar internals except for the lack of PureView tech in its camera and lesser internal storage space at only 8GB (though it supports additional storage via microSD cards). Both Lumia handsets will ship with 7GB free Microsoft SkyDrive online cloud storage in select focused markets before the end of 2012.
What Else You Need To Know
- Nokia Lumia 920 with its PureView camera boasts image stabilization and much better light sensitivity than any other smartphone on the market today due to the use of "floating lens" technology.
- Virgin Atlantic and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf have both signed up to help Nokia kickstart wireless charging by installing wireless charging plates on tables in participating locations.
- The Nokia Lumia 820 won't have integrated wireless charging but can have it as a feature with the use of replaceable back covers that come in different colors.
