Nokia, Samsung, others form In-Location Alliance to kickstart indoor navigation sector
The Next Web

Indoor location-based services are about to get a healthy boost thanks to efforts put forth by a collection of 22 different tech industry giants which include Nokia, Samsung, Sony, Qualcomm, and Broadcom. The nearly two dozen tech companies will be known collectively as In-Location, and together, the group will work to further develop and ultimately increase adoption of mainstream indoor positioning technology along with any and all services that might be associated with it. The indoor location innovations are set to be based mostly on Bluetooth 4.0 and current Wi-Fi standards, plus there will be an emphasis on open interfaces and standards-based technologies to ensure multivendor compatibility. Expect the newly developed indoor location-based services to launch some time next year.
