Nook Tablet with 'Incredible Display', Windows 8 & Video Store Coming This Fall
Gizmodo

Barnes & Noble is reportedly readying a successor to its 7-inch Nook Tablet. Competing against the Amazon Kindle Fire 2, the second generation Nook Tablet, according to Engadget's reliable source, is "super light", will have an "incredible display" with a 243 ppi resolution, and will be launched simultaneously with a brand new video store from B&N. The new device will be released this fall.

What Else You Need To Know

  • The industrial design will be handled by Ammunition's Robert Brunner, who designed the Nook Simple Touch.
  • The 243 ppi pixel density puts the Nook Tablet's display in the same range as the iPad 3, which has a 264 ppi for its highly touted Retina display, and bests the Kindle Fire (169 ppi) and the iPad 2 (132 ppi).
  • Tech Radar, citing its "sources", claims that the next Nook Tablet would be ditching Android and will instead run on Windows 8.
