Bell HTC One V launching May 3rd
HTC is bringing several devices to Canada, hitting all consumers price points from high-end to entry level. The HTC One X launched earlier this week via Rogers and coming soon will be the One S and the One V. As a recap, the One S will be launching at all the major carriers (Bell, TELUS, Fido, SaskTel and Virgin), but the One V will only make an appearance through Bell and TELUS.

Skype for Windows Phone Reaches 1.0 in Marketplace
Skype for Microsoft's Windows Phone platform has graduated from beta status and is now available from the Marketplace for Mobile as a version 1.0 app. The application, which is free to download, lets users make voice and video calls as well as send instant messages, to other Skype users for free.

Andreessen Horowitz Made $78M Off $250,000 Investment in Instagram
Andreessen Horowitz revealed that it made $78 million off its $250,000 seed investment in Instagram’s billion-dollar acquisition in a post that was meant to quell criticism that it “fumbled” its involvement with the company. “Ordinarily, when someone criticizes me for only making 312 times my money, I let the logic of their statement speak for itself,” wrote general partner Ben Horowitz.

HTC Wants to Develop its Own Processors for Low-End Phones
Encroaching into the semiconductor business might not seem the most obvious move for a phone manufacturer that's trying to unify its efforts. Nevertheless, China Times reports that HTC has signed a "memorandum of cooperation" with ST-Ericsson to co-develop a new dedicated chip for low-end handsets coming out next year. Since ST-Ericsson is a fabless chip designer, HTC won't risk getting silicon between its fingernails.
