Sony launched the VAIO Tap 20, wooing families and desktop users not impressed with the limited real estate of tablets currently on shelves. The VAIO Tap 20 is an enormous 20-inch, 11-pound 8 desktop/tablet hybrid. The device boasts of a 10-point multi-touch panel, multi-user games and apps, and an adjustable stand that would allow the tablet to lay-flat, tilt or kept upright desktop-style.

- Other VAIO Tap 20 specs are i7, i5 or i3 processor, Intel HD 4000 graphics, 1600 x 900 pixel resolution display for the 20-inch touch-screen, up to 8GB of RAM, 750GB or 1TB HDD for storage, USB 3.0, SD card slot, HD webcam, and crisp S-Force Front Surround 3D audio system.
- The 10-point multi-touch and 20-inch display allow simultaneous use by multiple users with apps like Family Paint.

The VAIO Tap 20 is a clean-looking device. It's smooth glass to the front, with rounded edges at each corner. The rear has a stand that can be adjusted to control the tilt of the screen or to fold into the body so the device can be used flat on a table or even the floor. It moves down nice and smoothly and doesn't feel flimsy against that sizeable screen.

Sony hasn’t finalized the design yet, so pricing isn’t settled, but that’s likely to be the deciding factor for most homes. If Sony can undercut the smaller all-in-one PCs – think along the lines of ASUS’ Eee Tops from a few years back – then it may not be quite as ridiculous as it first seems.
