Sony to launch new tablet in time for Christmas

After a couple of unsucessful attempts to crack the tablet market, Sony has hinted that they'll try again with the release of a new model. A spokesperson for the company told PC Advisor that its expected near the end of 2012, which probably means in time for the crazyiness that is the Christmas shopping season.

Here's What You Need To Know:

- It's belived the tablet will be a successor to the Sony Tablet S.

- A Sony tablet appeared in an FCC filing earlier this week - model number SGPT1211.

- After unsuccessful attempts on Android, Sony may opt for the Windows 8 operating system.

Ditching Android entirely seems a risky move given Sony's investment in Android with its PlayStation Mobile SDK. The set of tools help to facilitate development of games and apps across PlayStation Certified smartphones, tablets, and the PlayStation Vita. Sony isn't likely to give up one of those cross-platform pillars, especially as the PlayStation Mobile SDK approaches the end of its beta stage.
