Sony Mobile has officially unveiled the XPERIA Tablet Z, a sexy looking Android tablet that's ultra thin at only 6.9 mm thick and extremely light at only 495 grams. The Tablet Z features an impressive 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution on its 10.1-inch screen, LTE connectivity, NFC for data transfers to other Sony devices, a powerful Qualcomm quad-core processor and clocked at 1.5 GHz. Not only that, the device is dustproof and waterproof to a certain extent, and has an industry first backside-illuminated sensor for its 8-MP rear camera. While the device has been confirmed for a spring release date in Japan, there's no word yet on pricing and availability in the U.S. and Canada.

- The Tablet Z sports a design to the well-reviewed Zperia Z and ZL phones unveiled early this month at the CES.
- The device also packs 32GB of internal storage, Android 4.1.2 Jellybean, availability in black and white colors, 2 GB of RAM, a 6,000 mAh battery, Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology for its display, and S-Force virtual surround sound technology.
