Toshiba: No Windows RT Tablet for Now
SlashGear

Toshiba has shelved plans for devices on Windows RT, the version of Windows 8 designed for tablets. Toshiba instead is now focusing on the full-blown Windows 8 software for its desktop and notebooks. Toshiba said delayed components would make a Toshiba Windows RT tablet's "timely launch impossible." Windows RT from other device-makers are scheduled to hit the market around the time of the general availability of Windows 8, which is set for Oct. 26.

What Else You Need To Know:

- Toshiba did not completely rule out Windows RT, saying it will monitor "market conditions."

- Toshiba had previously conveyed plans of releasing Windows RT tablets that would be powered by Texas Instruments processors.

- Microsoft (own branded Surface RT), ASUS, Samsung, among others, are releasing Windows RT tablets.
