U.S. mobile consumers are now starting to throw away their feature phones and purchase smartphones, according to the recent survey by research firm Nielsen. In the second quarter of this year, smartphone purchases have continued to increase. Nielsen found that 2 out of 3 new buyers chose smartphones instead of feature phones.
According to the data from Nielsen, 54.9 percent of American mobile subscribers now own a smartphone. Android is still the phone of choice with nearly 52% market share, followed by Apple at 34.3%. At third spot is Blackberry, which has managed to grab 8.1% market share.
