What to Expect from Nokia, LG and Sony at MWC 2013
Android Police

This year's Mobile World Congress slated for February 25th to 28th in Barcelona, Spain, is a must-attend event for the mobile industry as the industry's biggest players are expected to show off their new weapons in the mobile arms race. LG, which has already announced this month updates to its Optimus G, L and F series of Android smartphones, will unveil a tablet/notebook hybrid powered by Windows 8. Nokia won't be unveiling its rumored Windows RT tablet but will instead reveal, according to Reuters, new, basic handsets not based on Microsoft's Windows Phones 8 OS. Sony Mobile is expected to showcase a mid-range phone, the Xperia S, which would feature a 4.6-inch 720p display and dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro chip.

What Else You Need To Know

  • Nokia might unveil at the MWC cheaper Windows Phone 8 smartphones, as well as new entry-level Nokia Asha handsets, which are based on Nokia’s own Series 40 software.
  • Samsung is rumored to be unveiling the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet at MWC but has not scheduled a media event or provided any teasers.
